He recently caught flack for snubbing producers requests for him to return to hit medical drama ER for the last season but Hollywood actor George Clooney is heading to the wild west reportedly set to star as The Lone Ranger.

The Oscar winning actor will be joined by Johnny Depp who has been confirmed by Disney bosses to be playing the part of Tonto. Clooney has been interested in working with Depp for years and he feels that the big screen adaptation of the long running 50’s television series is the perfect opportunity. “He thinks they’ll make the perfect on-screen partnership” Clooney said.

The screenply will be written by  Pirates of the Caribbean writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio.
