In a recent episode of his hit reality show, Luke’s Parental Advisory on VH1, Luke confessed to the boys at the barber shop that his oldest daughter is a stripper. He then went on to say  quote “If that’s what your doing with your life I don’t want anything to do with you, I dont condone that.” What The F@$% ??? Did I Hear him correctly ??? Luther “Luke” Campbell doesn’t approve of his daughter shaking her A$$ for cash. He doesn’t approve of men sticking dollars into his daughter’s g-string but he’s perfectly okay with sticking them into your daughter’s g-string and promoting the profession with his “Strip Fest”. This coming from the guy who had a woman slob on his nob on stage at a live show in Japan and was the first to have half naked women in music videos. The same man who was able to have Gloria Velez get naked and allow a woman to perform oral sex on her in front of thousands in Cancun . The same man whose lyrics as a member of the 2 Live Crew were so sexual that the group was arrested several times for performing the raunchy songs. All I can say about Luke is HYPOCRIT !!!!!

Fans of the long running soap opera As The World Turns have been anxiously awaiting a love scene between the gay male couple on the show. Back in March, angry viewers protested the show, but not for what you might think. The protestors were angry because the fictional characters of Noah Mayer (played by Jake Silberman) and Luke Snyder (played by Van Hansis) had not kissed on screen since September of 2007. CBS was baffled at the protest. In an age where the once taboo lifestyle of being homosexual has become more and more open and accepted in real life, change inevitably must come in the form of the arts.

Viewers were wondering if the decision was because of a lack of interest in the storyline or homophobia on the part of the show’s execs. Fans created a website that counts down to the second between kisses by the couple. They also have a letter-writing campaign and online petition. As The World Turns is not a newcomer to controversial storylines. They were the first to have a gay male role in 1988 with the character Hank and one of the first to tackle an AIDS story when character Margo Hughes was raped and later contracted the disease.

Stories have been published that the couple are already sexually involved but that isn’t true. I think that CBS is being very smart about the long drawn out process. It seems to me to be more of a strategy to build anticipation instead of homophobia. If execs had a problem with going all the way with the story, why would they have a gay storyline in the first place? Fans were displeased about several incidents on the show. One being a chance to show the couple kiss under the mistletoe at Christmas. Procter and Gamble opted to leave the kiss to viewers imaginations. Another incident was on the Valentines Day episode when all of the couples exchanged kisses except Noah and Luke who shared a hug.

Many supporters of the show’s decisions maintain that As The World Turns has always been on the cutting edge of television by having very controversial storylines but also remained committed to strong family values. Strong family values? Lets not forget, we’re talking about a soap opera people. Mothers sleep with daughter’s husbands, brothers sleep with sisters and people come back from the dead on a daily basis. I think that a gay love scene isn’t that far fetched.
