Oprah Disses Palin After She Refused To Come On Show

During the presidential campaign, talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey refused to have Sarah Palin on her show but made it clear that she was welcome after the elections were over. Since, Palin has given Winfrey the cold shoulder:

Oprah Winfrey has slammed failed Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin - after she snubbed offers to be interviewed on the TV titan’s show.

Palin discussed her unsuccessful bid to reach the White House with US hosts Greta Van Susteren, Matt Lauer and Larry King, but failed to appear as a guest on Winfrey’s popular daytime TV show - despite being invited.

Winfrey is bitter about being ignored by Palin and insists the Alaskan governor will be desperate to talk to her when she releases her memoirs.

Winfrey says, “I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over… I went and tried to talk to Sarah Palin and instead she talked to Greta. She talked to Matt. She talked to Larry. But she didn’t talk to me. Maybe she’ll talk to me now that she has a (multi-million dollar) book deal.”

Oprah was a very vocal supporter of Obama and will be moving her show to Washington during the inauguration.

Sarah Palin Ready To Cash In On Her Popularity ?

The culture wars could be taking a curious twist, as Veep also-ran Sarah Palin mulls her many post-election options from the evil media, according to the New York Post’s Page Six column.

Talk-show possibilities, regular TV pundit slots and lucrative book deals are already generating buzz for the publicity-magnet politician who energized the conservative base and the liberal opposition. Check ‘em out:

“There are several of our imprints who are eager to talk to Gov. Palin,” Random House spokesman Stuart Applebaum tells Page Six. “She clearly has a constituency and we know books by conservatively centered politicos usually sell very, very well.”

Of course, there are always haters. Linda Mann, president of Mann Media, which books celebrities and fashionistas for TV, noted, “Her buzz is incredible. She has car-wreck appeal. You’re compelled to watch, hoping she’ll say the dumbest things possible. I’d propose a show combining her love of fashion and lack of brainpower-’Project Dumbway.’”

Now that’s just mean. Kinda funny though, even if it does run the risk of “misunderestimating” Palin. We saw how well that worked out with W., right?

She’d be perfect for FOX News (or should I say FIX News). Another dumb conservative with a talk show whose only agenda is to bash the left. SMH.

Sarah Palin Is Dumber Than We Originally Thought

Sarah Palin Is Dumber Than We Originally Thought

The fallout from the landslide McCain lost in his bid for the presidency has begun and the blame game is in full effect. MSNBC is reporting that Senior Advisors from the McCain camp are revealing that Sarah Palin was unqualified and a diva. Supposedly, Palin was kept away from the media and debates because she did not understand things that should be common knowledge to a governor. For example, Palin didn’t know that Africa is a continent and not a country. Therefore Palin thought that South Africa was a state and not a country. I learned this in elementary school. LOL. She also couldn’t name the countries in NAFTA.

The advisors also revealed that Palin was a diva who spent more money on clothes that any of them knew about and that she at times behaved very inappropriately. One example of her behavior was when the staff came to meet with her and she came into the room in nothing but a towel. One advisor referred to Sarah Palin and her husband as “Wasilla Hillbillies who looted Neiman Marcus from coast to coast.”

Palin Falls For Prank Call Supposedly French President

Palin Falls For Prank Call Supposedly French President

What an idiot:

Sarah Palin unwittingly took a prank call Saturday from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and telling her she would make a good president someday.

“Maybe in eight years,” replies a laughing Palin.

The Republican vice presidential nominee discusses politics, the perils of hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sarkozy’s “beautiful wife,” in a recording of the six-minute call released Saturday and set to air Monday on a Quebec radio station.

Palin campaign spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt confirmed she had received the prank call.

“Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy and other celebrities, in being targeted by these pranksters. C’est la vie,” she said.

The call was made by a well-known Montreal comedy duo Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel. Known as the Masked Avengers, the two are notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state.

Audette, posing as Sarkozy, speaks in an exaggerated French accent and drops ample hints that the conversation is a joke. But Palin seemingly does not pick up on them.

He tells Palin one of his favorite pastimes is hunting, also a passion of the 44-year-old Alaska governor.

“I just love killing those animals. Mmm, mmm, take away life, that is so fun,” the fake Sarkozy says.

He proposes they go hunting together by helicopter, something he says he has never done.

“Well, I think we could have a lot of fun together while we’re getting work done,” Palin counters. “We can kill two birds with one stone that way.”

The comedian jokes that they shouldn’t bring Cheney along on the hunt, referring to the 2006 incident in which the vice-president shot and injured a friend while hunting quail.

“I’ll be a careful shot,” responds Palin.

Playing off the governor’s much-mocked comment in an early television interview that she had insights into foreign policy because “you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska,” the caller tells her: “You know we have a lot in common also, because … from my house I can see Belgium.”

She replies: “Well, see, we’re right next door to different countries that we all need to be working with, yes.”

When Audette refers to Canadian singer Steph Carse as Canada’s prime minister, Palin replies: “Well, he’s doing fine and yeah, when you come into a position underestimated it gives you an opportunity to prove the pundits and the critics wrong. You work that much harder.” Canada’s prime minister is Stephen Harper.

Palin praises Sarkozy throughout the call and also mentions his wife Carla Bruni, a model-turned-songwriter.

“You know, I look forward to working with you and getting to meet you personally and your beautiful wife,” Palin says. “Oh my goodness, you’ve added a lot of energy to your country with that beautiful family of yours.”

The Sarkozy impersonator tells Palin his wife is “so hot in bed” and then informs her that Bruni has written a song for her about Joe the Plumber entitled “Du rouge a levres sur une cochonne” - which translates as “Lipstick on a Pig.”

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama derided his Republican challenger John McCain’s call for change in Washington as “lipstick on a pig,” days after Palin made a lipstick joke at the Republican convention. The McCain-Palin campaign then released an ad implying Obama was calling Palin a pig with that remark.

The caller asks Palin if Joe the Plumber is her husband and adds: “We have the equivalent of Joe the Plumber in France. It’s called Marcel, the guy with bread under his armpit.”

He also tells the Alaska governor that he loved the “documentary” made about her and referred to a pornographic film with a Palin look-alike made by Hustler founder Larry Flynt.

She answers tentatively, “Ohh, good, thank you, yes.”

The callers then reveal the prank and identify themselves and their radio station.

“Ohhh, have we been pranked?” Palin asks before handing the phone to an aide who ends the call.

Obama’s campaign spokesman Robert Gibbs, commenting on the prank, said: “I’m glad we check out our calls before we hand the phone to Barack Obama.”

This is the woman that you Republicans (who constantly complain on this site in all of the posts about politics) want as a VP. GTFOH !!!! This woman is supposed to be so experienced with foreign policy but she couldn’t tell that she wasn’t speaking to the real President of France. And McCain’s always talking about experience when it comes to Obama. SMH.

Top McCain Adviser Says Palin Is “Not Ready To Lead”

Top McCain Adviser Says Palin Is “Not Ready To Lead”

Lawrence Eagleburger

Lawrence Eagleburger

A former Republican Secretary of State and one of John McCain’s most prominent supporters offered a stunningly frank and remarkably bleak assessment of Sarah Palin’s capacity to handle the presidency should such a scenario arise.

Lawrence Eagleburger, who served as Secretary of State under George H.W. Bush and whose endorsement is often trumpeted by McCain, said on Thursday that the Alaska governor is not only unprepared to take over the job on a moment’s notice but, even after some time in office, would only amount to an “adequate” commander in chief.

“And I devoutly hope that [she] would never be tested,” he added for good measure — referring both to Palin’s policy dexterity and the idea of McCain not making it through his time in office. (Listen to audio below.)

The remarks took place during an interview on National Public Radio that was, ironically, billed as “making the case” for a McCain presidency. Asked by the host whether Palin could step in during a time of crisis, Eagleburger reverted to sarcasm before leveling the harsh blow.

“It is a very good question,” he said, pausing a few seconds, then adding with a chuckle: “I’m being facetious here. Look, of course not.”

Eagleburger explained: “I don’t think at the moment she is prepared to take over the reins of the presidency. I can name for you any number of other vice presidents who were not particularly up to it either. So the question, I think, is can she learn and would she be tough enough under the circumstances if she were asked to become president, heaven forbid that that ever takes place?

“Give her some time in the office and I think the answer would be, she will be [pause] adequate. I can’t say that she would be a genius in the job. But I think she would be enough to get us through a four year… well I hope not… get us through whatever period of time was necessary. And I devoutly hope that it would never be tested.”

The indictment of Palin was all the more biting because both she and McCain have held Eagleburger up repeatedly during the past several weeks as evidence that the Republican ticket has firm standing and support within foreign policy circles. (In fact, McCain conferred with Eagleburger by phone just this week, on matters pertaining to national security.)
Story continues below

In a recent co-interview on NBC, Brian Williams asked McCain and Palin “about what must have been a hurtful Sunday for you,” referring to Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama and specifically to the “heart of his quote” — Powell’s claim that Palin is not “ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of vice president.”

“Obviously General Powell does not know Governor Palin’s record,” McCain responded. “All I can say is, I see all these attacks on Governor Palin. I don’t live in a bubble. But those people obviously are either not paying attention to, or don’t care about the record of the most popular governor in the United States of America.”

Palin interjected, citing the “five former secretaries of states” that have endorsed their campaign and see in their candidacy “the ability to win the wars and to keep our nation safe and on course.”

Days later, the Arizona Senator again touted the Eagleburger endorsement during a spot on CNN. During that interview, McCain tried to downplay the significance of Colin Powell’s criticisms of Palin by noting that Powell had never taken the time to understand her political gravitas.

“I especially disagreed when he said the comments that he made about Governor Palin,” McCain said. “And I hope that sometime General Powell will take time out of his busy schedule to meet with her. I know she’d be pleased to meet with him.”

Perhaps Eagleburger, too, should sit in on that meeting.

McCain And Palin Camps Pointing Fingers

McCain And Palin Camps Pointing Fingers

The McCain campaign is definitely demoralized right now. The blame game has begun.

There is no question that there is a rift between Sarah Palin’s camp and that of John McCain inside the Republican campaign, sources tell ABC News.

Watch George Stephanopoulos on “Nightline” tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC

And you are seeing people within the McCain campaign starting to look to the future.

Not only Palin, but many of the McCain staffers, as well, are circulating their resumes and pointing the finger.

Whenever people in the campaign are starting to worry more about their own reputations rather than whether they’re going to win in seven days, there is a significant problem.
GOP Rift Between McCain and Palin Camps

Palin is going to be the most vivid chapter of the McCain campaign’s post-mortem.

McCain argued Monday that he “couldn’t be more proud” of his running mate.

However, there is a significant rift inside the McCain campaign.

Those loyal to McCain believe they have been unfairly blamed for over-handling Palin. They say they did the best they could with what they got.

They point to the bounce in the polls McCain got when he announced Palin as his running mate, her Republican convention speech, and her first interview with ABC’s Charles Gibson.

What didn’t work were the limited, subsequent media interviews, most notably between Palin and CBS anchor Katie Couric.

But some McCain camp insiders tell ABC News they simply couldn’t put Palin out in front of the media any more than they did because she wasn’t ready.

The Palin camp is fighting back, arguing that if the McCain campaign had just let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin, she would have done just fine on her own.

The Alaska governor herself has been pushing out on her own against McCain’s handlers.

In recent days she has been speaking her own mind about what she thought of McCain’s strategy in Michigan, and what she thought of his decision not to go after Rev. Jeremiah Wright. And we’re seeing more and more of that in the closing days of the campaign.

Obama Tries to Boost Turnout, Momentum

Officials from both the Obama and McCain campaigns tell ABC News they believe there is very little that either candidate can do to change the trajectory of the race.

Unless one of them makes a major mistake, nothing they can say or do will affect them one way or the other.

Now, it’s all about turnout and momentum.

Barack Obama is leading McCain 52-45 in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll.

The only thing the Obama campaign is worried about right now is voter complacency, over-confidence, or that the idea that Obama is winning somehow energizes and mobilizes Republican voters.

McCain Looks to Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is the only big Democratic-leaning state than McCain has a chance of turning around now, although he trails Obama 53-40 in the latest Pennsylvania poll by Morning Call/Muhlenberg College.

If McCain doesn’t win Pennsylvania’s 21 electoral votes, he would have to run the table and win all eight of the competitive states that were held by President Bush in 2004, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, and Nevada.

That’s very, very tough for McCain to do.

The only way he has more paths to 270 electoral votes is if he can flip Pennsylvania and turn it around — that would give him more leeway.

If you take all four of these states that will be decided relatively early on Election Night next Tuesday — Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, and Florida — McCain has to win three out of four of those states to even have a chance of getting to 270 electoral votes.

Even that is a necessary but not sufficient condition for him. That shows what he’s up against because he’s behind in all four of these key battleground states right now.

Even more dire for McCain, the Republicans even started to advertise this week in Montana, which should be a solid Republican state.

Palin Refers To Obama’s Tax Plan As Communism

Palin Refers To Obama’s Tax Plan As Communism

Sarah Palin had a few memorable moments during her campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. But the most eye-opening of them all came, it would appear, when the Alaska Governor somehow drew a connection between Barack Obama’s tax policy and an encroaching, nightmarish, communist government. The Illinois Democrat, she hysterically suggested, would, through his proposals, create a country “where the people are not free.”

YouTube Preview Image

“See, under a big government, more tax agenda, what you thought was yours would really start belonging to somebody else, to everybody else. If you thought your income, your property, your inventory, your investments were, were yours, they would really collectively belong to everybody. Obama, Barack Obama has an ideological commitment to higher taxes, and I say this based on his record… Higher taxes, more government, misusing the power to tax leads to government moving into the role of some believing that government then has to take care of us. And government kind of moving into the role as the other half of our family, making decisions for us. Now, they do this in other countries where the people are not free. Let us fight for what is right. John McCain and I, we will put our trust in you.”

That yarn goes well beyond what Palin and McCain have, to this point, been comfortable asserting: mainly that Obama is proposing economic socialism. But there are a few things to keep in mind here: the McCain-Palin ticket does not oppose a progressive tax system. In fact, back in 2000, the Arizona Republican said rich people paid more in taxes because they could afford to do so.

“I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children,” he said, “and they’re the ones that I would support tax cuts for first.”

More importantly, Obama’s tax plans are less progressive than those in place during the Clinton years. In fact, the rates that people making over $250,000 would have to pay would be the same as during the 1990s — a time definitely not marked by the absence of freedoms.

McCain Camp Defends Palin’s $150,000 Wardrobe

McCain Camp Defends Palin’s $150,000 Wardrobe

Republican John McCain’s campaign defended vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin on Friday over a flap involving $150,000 in clothes purchased by the Republican Party for her and her family’s use.

The wardrobe controversy, first reported by political news website Politico, has been used by some critics to try to undercut Palin’s image as a down-to-earth working mother who touts her small town values.

The clothes were purchased for Palin and her family for use if needed during the Republican nominating convention in September.

Palin herself began the defense Thursday, telling the Chicago Tribune: “Oh, if people only knew how frugal we are.”

“It’s kind of painful to be criticized for something when all the facts are not out there and are not reported,” Palin told the newspaper.

The McCain campaign, after first deciding not to engage in a public discourse about the clothes, decided to provide more details about them — along with some scathing criticism of the news media.

“Governor Palin did not ask for or want any new clothes,” said McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace.

“About a third of them have been returned, a third of them sit in the belly of the plane and are available to her and her family for special campaign events, TV appearances and ad filming,” Wallace said. “Another third was made available to her family for the public events during convention week.”

Palin told the Chicago Tribune that the clothes will either be given back, auctioned off or sent to charity.

The Alaska governor has energized the Republican base but some conservative commentators have questioned McCain’s judgment for putting the little-known Alaska governor on the White House ticket.

Palin is still drawing large crowds and bringing conservative voters who were wary of McCain back to the Republican fold.

Wallace said the media storm about Palin’s wardrobe was a terrible disservice to her and said there seemed to be a “double-standard for women in politics.”

“That any aspect of her shoes, clothes or appearance has become a distraction is a terrible commentary on the state of the media and politics. Let’s get on with our great debate about the best direction for the country in these challenging times for our economy and our nation’s security,” she said.

Palin’s Makeup $23,000 For First 2 Weeks Of October

Palin’s Makeup $23,000 For First 2 Weeks Of October

If Palin’s $150,000 shopping spree had Republicans disgusted, then the report that her makeup stylist cost $22,800 for the first two weeks of October should have them livid. The stylist, Amy Strozzi, was apparently paid more than any other McCain staffer during that period.

Ms. Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her makeup work on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to the records. The campaign categorized Ms. Strozzi’s payment as “PERSONNEL SVC/EQUIPMENT.”

The payment on Oct. 10 made Ms. Strozzi the single highest-paid individual in the campaign for that two-week period. (There were more than two dozen companies that got larger payments than Ms. Strozzi). She easily beat out Mr. Scheunemann, who received $12,500 in the first half of October, and Ms. Wallace, who got $12,000.
